JESSE ROADS
Jesse Roads is a singer and songwriter with a life-long passion for creating haunting melodies and honest lyrics, connecting with the audience through songs that are catchy yet meaningful.
Jesse’s music channels the thought-provoking and poetic style pioneered by legendary artists such as Bob Dylan and Elliott Smith. However, there is also a visceral, instinct-driven side to his songwriting, reminiscent of trailblazers such as Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, The Gaslight Anthem and Bruce Springsteen among others.
As a musician with such an incredibly diverse background, Jesse can ignite the spark of his creativity, never getting stuck into the usual boxes and categories when it comes to making music.
Some of his songs are intimate and down-to-earth, channelling some of the most authentic folk vibes. Others are emotional and driven, carrying the spirit of blues and indie rock. In most cases, a song by Jesse Roads would combine all of the styles mentioned above, where everything fits together to perfection.
Some previous releases feature a collection of singles dating back to 2020. Four songs, including a heartfelt rendition of “Lovers In A Dangerous Time” by Bruce Cockburn. A conceptual fit with what we’re experiencing in this day and age, the song is easy to relate to, and Jesse gave it a remarkable makeover. Even Cockburn himself greeted this cover enthusiastically!
Over the pandemic, Jesse released a full-length album. The release features a set of songs recorded at the Rose & Crown, a world-famous venue in Banff, Canada. The idea of recording his music at such an iconic location is significant, especially in the difficult times, when we were all struggling for human connection and missing the social experiences that we took for granted, such as simply being outside among other people safely. In addition to that, the songs on the album are also performed live, adding yet another layer of authenticity to this exciting release.
Jesse’s songs aim to capture some of the magic of the location he picked for the recordings, but ultimately, it is all about creating a genuine experience to share with people from all walks of life.
